Trophies found on Oregon's Central Coast

Treasures found by 4 beachcombers
After many seasonal storms last Saturday we noticed the beaches were scrubbed down to the bed rock leaving gravel showing from Newport to  Taft in Lincoln City.  These are just a few of the beauties that have been found here in the area.  I will put more up as time permits.  #1. Fortification Agate found by Steve of Lincoln County, 2. Fancy Jasper found by beachcomber Terry of Gleneden Beach. #3 is a fancy jasp-agate weighing over 2 pounds  and #4. is a possible blue agate weighing ¾ pound found by our Oregon Fossil Guy last week. #5. are two views of a  massive grouping of Crepidula, fornicata.

Large Trophy Fancy Jasper Found

Recently lucky Ruby of Seattle, Washington found this 1¾ pound fancy jasp-agate while vacationing here on the Oregon coast while beachcombing in the north county.

Sorry I haven't had time to get this updated lately, there have been lots of changes here at the Gallery.  More to tell later as time permits...

Nice find! Earlier this month Jon M. found this jasp agate arrowhead while visiting in Newport! This is the second agate arrowhead we have seen in recient years here in the Newport area. However please remember taking artifacts from the beaches in Oregon is not recommended.

An uncommon Jasp-agate found beachcombing at Newport!

Spectacular winter storms this year have been responsible for a variety of changes to the Oregon coastline. Since the storm removal of tons of sand this has uncoverd and exposed more rocks, agates, fossils, and glass fishing floats than many of our previous winters. Guest Dale M. recently found this spectacular specimen of Jasp-Agate which has the look of a breaciated jasper (considering all of the fragmented jasper pieces randomly spread throughout) on the beach just north of Newport, at the Oregon Coast. (This specimen was photographed wet).
